My office wall has a vintage print of Paris hanging in the center, and it’s not uncommon to hear strains of Edith Piaf in the background. When I daydream, my mind will wander the cobbled streets of my beloved city and I’ll start checking flights. One New Year’s Eve I spent there was especially glamorous, with a decadent meal at Le Cinq, an evening walk amidst twinkling lights on the Seine, and of course beaucoup de champagne. At this time of year, pastries are even more beautiful, dresses are at their chicest, and makeup is divine. Lancôme has introduced the most gorgeous head-to-toe holiday collection which embodies quintessential French richness and sophistication, bringing Paris to us no matter where we celebrate the holidays.
The Color Design 5 Pan Palette Eye Shadow says it all- the rich golden shimmer creates a smokey eye inspired by those very magical Parisian lights. The Large Shadow #11 brush is a perfect applicator, as it’s stiff enough to be precise in lining the lid, but wide enough to enable full coverage with broad strokes. The rich brown shimmer is a magnificent highlighter for the crease to create definition. After applying it to one side, I couldn’t believe the difference in how dramatic and beautiful my eye was! The colors blend well into each other, the mark of expertly formulated pigments and high quality shadow.
If you’ve ever dreamed of a precise eyeliner with incredible staying power, I’m happy to report that your search is over! The Artliner in Noir or Cinnamon is never going to smudge or budge due to two film-forming polymers, so it’s perfect for a long glamorous evening. These are the very reasons this liner is a bestseller, and the foam tip makes application easy and comfortable.
The Hypnose Dazzling is quite unique in the world of eye makeup; and the little jewel of sparkling pigment completes the holiday eye drama. Despite its appearance, the texture is a bit creamy, making application easier. Its versatility allows for a concentrated color either as a thicker liner or to accent the lash line, but doesn’t crumble and flake like some pigment pots.
There’s something about the holidays that makes me glow, whether it’s family, food, or joyful times with friends. To bring that radiance to my complexion, I love the luxurious Poudre Lumiere, which is a iridescent loose powder that perfects complexion and adds some magic to complete a holiday look. The soft texture is virtually weightless, and it’s a pleasure just looking at the gold textured jar on my dresser, waiting to be brought out for a special occasion. Only a light dusting is needed (using the cottony-soft puff), so this little jar goes a long way.
I can’t help but rave about the Vernis in Love in Illuminations, a glittery and festive gold, because I’m so blown away at the longevity of this polish. I used three coats to get a really opaque nail of sparkle, but it can easily be layered on any shade to add another dimension. It literally lasted for weeks, unlike other glitter polishes I’ve tried, and even on removal it wanted to stay on. The round brush is efficient for smooth application, and the grooved stem allows polish to flow down the center into the brush for distribution. The Nail Tattoo is an easy way to do playful holiday version of a French manicure, giving ombre gold sparkle at the tips in just minutes.
Last but possibly the biggest statement of all, the L’Absolu Rouge Lipcolor for a bright red lip- is there anything more French chic? Although I shy away from bold and bright sometimes because that teeny line into gaudy seems to come a lot sooner for me, I couldn’t resist trying it out. I love how it looks on the French model, bien sur, but could that translate to my lips? The L’Absolute Rouge shade is bold and bright, and I was transfixed by the statement it made on my lips. Not only did it bring out the contour and natural pout, but it created a fullness that draws attention. The Lancôme site is great for looking at the color on models of different ethnicities and skintones, if only for a little confidence boost!
