Do you remember summer camp? Days of tents, bunk beds, canoes, campfires, s’mores…all good childhood memories, right? Sparked by her own camp memories, designer Tamar Wilder was led to create her clothing line, CAMP Collection, inspired by her love of the outdoors. The Fall 2014 collection is the second collection for the brand, filled with chambrays, plaids and cool hand-drawn graphic tees – essentially, all about the girl who doesn’t mind getting dirty outdoors, but wants to look awesome doing it. Check out the photos from the gorgeous Fall Lookbook (shot in Australia by Renee Carey, featuring model Rachel Rutt) above, and shop the new collection at ShopCamp.com.
Traveling this summer has been a blast- especially since our little lady loves hotels and planes. It’s amusing to see her zip through a new hotel room, exploring bedding and examining toiletries (could this be passed along genetically?). The one thing that’s always a comfort when away from home is a lovey, and her Elks and Angels Cuddle Bear has racked up more frequent flier miles than any other! Made of Australian sheepskin, the high quality softness is instantly addictive. I love it because it’s flat, light and easy to pack, and the natural properties of the sheepskin regulate body temperature whether it’s cool or hot! It’s also naturally anti-bacterial hypoallergenic, so I don’t have to worry as much about picking up germs.
For all my fellow aden + anais lovers, I’m excited to announce an amazing limited edition collection: (RED)! It’s bright and sharp, patriotic, and best of all, it supports the organization (RED) which was founded in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver to engage businesses and people in the fight against AIDS.
The collection is selling out fast, so grab your chance to support victims of AIDS while swaddling your baby in ultimate comfort and style! (RED) is a division of The ONE Campaign. Learn more at www.red.org.
This past month, while I tested the new Proactiv+ System, has been an interesting one. I’ve traveled more than any other 30-day period in recent memory–spending every week in a different city, from the East Coast to the West Coast (2x!), to the Gulf Coast, with a couple stops in the Midwest along the way. Needless to say, while my frequent flier account has been looking good, my skin was not as lucky.
Fortunately, most of the Proactiv+ products are TSA friendly, so I made sure to pack what I could every time I got on the airplane. Thanks to the product’s targeted treatments and ingredients that promote overall skin wellness, my complexion hasn’t taken that much of a beating, despite the drying plane air, long days, and the occasional face-on-airplane-window sleeping position.
My favorite product in the lineup is the Skin Smoothing Exfoliator. Even though I was not bringing this along during my travels, it was the first thing I reached for every time I was back in my own shower. The gentle scrub melts away any makeup (or lets be honest, dirt and grease) after a long day of travel and helps to brighten my complexion and soften skin immediately. I follow up with the Complexion Perfecting Hydrator and feel pretty comfortable in my skin for the rest of the day.
My go-to product while traveling is the Targeted Pore Treatment, which I unfortunately ended up needing to use more frequently than I had hoped. The bacteria-killing formula was key for when I woke up with pimples on my cheek after passing out (20 minutes at a time) on some gross airplane seat. The product helped to minimize redness and clear up the blemish faster. I also always packed a mini tube of the Skin Purifying Mask, which was always a treat (and a necessity!), to put on at the hotel after a long day.
Ready to try the new Proactiv+ for yourself? I’m giving away a 3-piece set and announcing the winner on social media tomorrow. Stay tuned!
I have endless fun dressing up my toddler, maybe because she can take the fashion risks that I’ve always dreamed of, and her exuberant personality can hang with the coolest designs. Her creative closet is now oozing street cred thanks to fabulous kids’ line Appaman. It’s named after Norwegian designer Harald Husum’s childhood chum, a corduroy ape! Appaman lets imaginations fly, because with a name like that, only adventuresome clothes can be showcased. The pieces tell stories of traveling through imagination, discovering fields and fjords, and celebrating the bond between best friends. Isn’t it great being a kid?
A couple weeks ago I hinted that I was undertaking a new (and different) sort of color project. And now I can finally reveal that it was in partnership with Valspar Paint and Ace Hardware! What, you may ask? Let me explain:
If you follow me on Instagram (and specifically on my #CHliving hashtag), you’ll know that I recently moved into a brand new, adult apartment. And so begins my newest obsession: interior decorating.
But while I’m all about “making up” my home now, I can’t claim to be the most experienced at this (yet). So, of course, I did what I know from years of blogging about fashion and beauty: hit up blogs and Pinterest for inspiration.
I realized that decorating your home is a lot like decorating yourself—there’s an endless array of colors, styles, and products to try. Some looks you’ll gravitate towards more than others—and somewhere along the way you’ll discover your personal style.
But while I could spend hours (or days!) at Sephora trying out new makeup shades, that experience has not translated at all when it comes to picking out, say, paint colors for my home. Until now that is—Ace Hardware is bringing the “beauty experience” to hardware and is helping to make all my pinned dreams a reality through their new The Paint Studio, which carries practically every color you could want from Valspar (over 700 hues) and Clark+Kensington .
The Paint Studio is designed to give customers a boutique-style shopping experience, similar to how you may shop for makeup or clothes. Along with a ton of mood-inspired palettes , you’ll get personalized attention from educated associates to help you find the perfect shade –Helpful is Beautiful! And of course—no beauty purchase is complete without sampling! You can buy pint-sized samples for $4.99 to test!
I took Ace up on the challenge and went with two Valspar colors to make over my new home. As with most Manhattan apartments, space is limited where I live, so instead of cluttering up my apartment with much furniture, I chose to define the different rooms with color. First, I painted my dining nook in Valspar Lavender Twilight, the most beautiful shade of lavender-grey (remember that color inspiration board from my first post?) and was surprised at how it instantly transformed the corner and made it so inviting. I actually sometimes sit at my dinging table and stare at the wall because the color is so pretty and soothing. Plus with its own color, the dining area has suddenly transformed from just an extension of my living space into its own rom.
I was so excited by the results that I chose to extend my painting project to my living room as well. Back to The Paint Studio I went and discovered that a light dove grey was a beautiful complement. This shade was also the perfect compromise for my husband and I: he wanted something super light (in fact, white) to keep the area bright and spacious while I wanted something that could add contrast and personality to the space. It turns out Valspar Modern Gray is light enough to feel safe if you’re nervous about color, but it still brings a multidimensional feel to the room. Plus, the hue goes with everything—especially that pretty lavender dining room. And remember, Valspar also offers the Color Guarantee so if you don’t like the first color you choose, you can have another on them.
Do you have a paint project to tackle? Be sure to visit your neighborhood Ace Hardware store to check out the Star Spangled Sale, which is taking place July 2-7 and offers Instant Savings of $5 off gallon purchases of Valspar and Clark+Kensington paint .
Disclaimer: This project was done in partnership with Valspar Paint and Ace Hardware, but all thoughts, words, and excitement over final product are my own.
I have a soft spot in my heart for oversized bags because I love to have everything with me. You just never know when you’re going to need that extra jacket or tube of suncreen! Huge bags also have the added bonus of making me look small in comparison to it, so they always come off looking chic. I’m obsessed with the Lo & Sons Catalina Tote, the bag that’s always packed and ready to go this summer. It’s made of lightweight but high quality canvas and comes in colors that’ll match any ensemble. Even the shiny zipper pulls are made of durable metal that are easy to grab.
There’s nothing I love more than a good massage…seriously, it’s a struggle every day not to just schedule another one. When I win the lottery, I’m totally going to have a masseuse on standby and get one every single day. So, naturally, I love finding a great new place in my city where I know I can escape to anytime I need to de-stress.
Exhale Spa has locations all across the country, including three here in Los Angeles (Hollywood, Santa Monica and Venice) and offers Core Fusion and Yoga classes, as well as spa services. When I got the chance to visit for a service, I had about thirty seconds of wondering if I should do something to burn calories, then I came to my senses and picked the massage. (I’m no fool!)
I visited the Santa Monica location, which is inside the Fairmont Miramar Hotel on Wilshire Blvd near the ocean. If you’ve never been to the hotel before, you’re in for s treat: It’s gorgeous and luxurious and everything you would expect from a hotel in that area, so it instantly sets the tone when you enter. Once you check in, you change in the lounge, which has seating areas for relaxing and a chill vibe. If I hadn’t had an appointment I needed to get to afterwards, I would’ve definitely parked myself in one of the comfy chairs in my oversized robe and read magazines for an hour or two. (The above image is from the Zen Lounge in the Hollywood location, but it gives you a good idea of what the Santa Monica one looks like as well).
I booked myself for the sixty minute Exhale Flow massage, which is their signature full body massage. It involves what they call “choreographed waves of kneading” that are meant to open your muscles up, free energy blockages and relieve tension. It’s a technique that incorporates more lymphatic drainage than a traditional deep tissue, so it helps detoxify your body more and boosts your immune as well. All of that sounds very technical, but what really matters is how it feels and that answer is… amazing. I had been so tense over a work project that was having some unexpected problems and for that hour, I forgot all about anything but the fabulous massage I was getting. It was so, so relaxing with the aromatherapy oils that were used and I loved that my technician followed my lead–when I started a conversation with her, she was lovely to talk to, but when I was quiet, she was also silent so I could fully enjoy the massage. My only complaint? That I didn’t book the ninety minute treatment because the one hour one was over far, far too soon.
It was such a nice treat in such a lovely setting, and if you live in Los Angeles, I highly recommend this location, especially because it’s so close to the Third Street Promenade, which means you can shop afterwards (the perfect follow up to a massage!)

Recently, with the changing season (and more importantly, weather), I’ve been looking for a new gentle, yet effective cleanser to try. I’ve heard good things about the skincare line, VERSO, and decided to try out their Foaming Cleanser.
First, I love the minimalistic packaging. The simple black and white bottle, paired with the bold typeface…this is perfect for leaving out on the bathroom counter. If you had the entire line, it would look so gorgeous together for an immediately styled bathroom vignette.
The cleanser itself markets itself as a “soothing and purifying gentle foaming cleanser for daily use,” and after using it, I can say that this cleanser is exactly that. The cleanser itself pumps out as a thicker white liquid, and with water, it foams and lathers nicely on the skin. It has a very light clean scent that I found soothing, not irritating. It easily removed all light makeup, grime and excess oil from the day without leaving behind any residue. Most importantly, so far – no breakouts from using this cleanser (which can easily happen for me). A thumbs up for daily use!
