I could hardly wait to put my fork down before starting to write about my inaugural Sakara Life meal delivery! The freshness, flavor, and convenience make a healthy meal at home or at the office not only accessible but a pleasure. Sakara Life was founded three years ago by two beautiful ladies who have devoted their lives to holistic nutrition in order to provide a healthy and convenient organic meal delivery solution for people ready to take control of their well-being. My healthy-eating Monday started with the Rolled Oat and Pecan Bar, which was surprisingly filling and healthy, and had me prepped for lunchtime. The Yin & Yang Nori Rolls were fresh and tasty- I love sushi even in vegetarian form, and was happy to have my craving satisfied for this week. The rolls were served with a sizeable salad for which I need to find the recipe for that delish dressing! For dinner, I (generously) shared some of the veggie Sakara Cobb Salad with my husband, who happens to think meat is a necessary part of every meal, but even he loved the salad. With Bobby Flay on the board of advisors, Sakara is set apart from other meal delivery services that focus on health but not taste!
The fresh approach of Sakara Life to nutrition and eating is based on balance (ie. not just calories or carbs!) and values local foods and preparation which preserves vitamins and healthy components. The Sakara team offers encouragement and advice along the way, so you feel like you have your own personal guide through the process. Directions for drinking their teas and waters (included in the delivery) make everything simple. It was also good to know all the great benefits of all the yummy food Sakara includes, like fruits and vegetables to hydrate cells, colorful foods which translate to an array of nutrients, and even good fats (yes, you heard me right!) to keep energy levels up. Sakara delivery started in New York, but is now available in Washington DC and Boston and areas in between, so spread the love!
