A few weeks ago, my hair and I went on an adventure to a chic little boutique nestled in the quaint neighborhood of Del Ray just outside DC, Salon Bisoux. I was honored to spend some time and glean some pearls from the expertise of owner Philippe Depeyrot, who has spent decades perfecting his craft in the styling industry. During his years styling in DC at the famous Christophe Salon, his clientele included local celebrities and was even frequented by the Clintons during their time in office. As soon as Phillippe and I started talking, I knew I trusted him with my hair- it was the most in depth consultation I’ve ever had. By the end of the conversation, he knew my daily schedule, my handiness with styling tools (I can use them in my sleep), and even how long ago I gave birth! He gave me his opinions while letting me have the final say with length and style, and was able to inject a hip factor into my otherwise ordinary layers. I believe he has an eye for determining the right length to complement facial shape, which is one clue as to why clientele migrate from near and far to see him for regular styling. Philippe’s wife and co-owner Krista, is an expert in coloring, and pulls patron from all around the DC-metro area.
I love the personal attention which comes with the neighborhood-family feel, and the bright salon is comfortably cool and modern. The salon’s philosophy falls in line with and uses Kerastase products exclusively, which I respect and love. Phillippe’s extensive knowledge of the line enables him to diagnose and prescribe just the perfect combination of products for any hair type and address potential issues. He added a treatment for nourishment to my roots, which lasts for weeks, a touch I really appreciated. My final and most important test to tell if a haircut is truly of high quality is to see how it holds up after a few weeks. By then, hair has had ample time to settle and acclimate to its new weight. I’m happy to announce that the cut passed with flying colors! It falls to perfectly frame my face and doesn’t flip out or require heavy styling to look polished. Even if I’m in too much of a hurry to blow dry, it still retains bounce and shape. I highly recommend Phillippe if you’re considering a new look and need some direction, or just fancy a tall French man in a suit styling your hair! The salon’s social conscience is strong, and is currently celebrating client and friend Christine Thayer’s organization benefiting treatment of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. On April 5, 20% of all treatments will benefit her cause.
