Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved giving and receiving beautiful packages, sometimes even more than the gift itself! I was so inspired by this season’s new chic idea of wrapping with scarves. Not only is it a beautifully elegant way to present a gift, but the scarf is a treasure in itself. I’ve been avoiding wrapping paper for years, opting for gift bags or a simple bow, but I’m now all-in for this creative eco-friendly option. I love shopping for scarves, and my favorite boutique is Echo New York. It’s got amazing selection and is full of varieties of colors, prints, lengths, and materials.
I had a grand time wrapping a square Barneys box with the textured and richly patterned Bengal Metallic Scarf. The high quality weave makes this scarf soft and rich. It took me a few tries to figure out how to get around the corners, but the scarf itself does most of the work by showing characteristics of a rich tapestry. The metallic gold thread is more beautiful in person than pictures can show, and the scarf itself is soft and cozy but lightweight.
Perhaps my favorite of the collection is the Baroque Botanical Silk Square, a decadently large (50×50) flowing silk piece bursting with rich vibrant color. This scarf has to be appreciated in person, but I’ve tried to capture how well it twists to create an eye-catching detail for tying up a gift. For its lucky recipient, this pattern works well either with a more classic outfit or rolled up as a long headscarf to create a chic-bohemian look when added to a black jumpsuit or swimsuit. Creative juices are flowing, and gift giving is elevated to a new level!
