Beauty, Skincare, TravelPacking It Up

I’m gleefully prepping for a long-awaited much-needed vacay to London and Paris next week. For me, the anticipation is painfully glorious as I spend every spare moment reading blogs, checking weather, and planning outfits. Trying to whittle selections down to a couple pairs of shoes is inevitably tough! My beauty case always carries my most precious essentials, so I’m sharing my top picks I can’t live without.

essenceThe Essence, a plumping skin softener by Tatcha is the newest addition to their anti-aging collection. The delicate milky fluid is a literal drink for the skin, and a luxurious addition to my relaxing cleansing ritual. Although it’s probably the easiest element to incorporate into daily skin care, it may make the biggest impact when used consistently. I appreciate the simple light fragrance and consistency of The Essence which won’t block pores. A high concentration of Japanese superfoods features Hadasei-3TM, a combination of antioxidants from Green Tea, Rice, and Algae. A smooth and youthfully bright complexion is the result the complex working to naturally stimulate lactic acid which in turn promotes cell turnover. Hydration is a significant need for any type of skin, and The Essence enables long-lasting retention of moisture. I simply pour a small amount into my palm, pat it into skin after cleansing, take a deep breath as it is absorbed, and follow with moisturizer. No matter how crazy travel is, this little bit of zen keeps my skin in prime condition and gives me that elusive calm.

Tweezerman-Holographic[1]Tweezerman tools are simply the best out there in my book, and I love how they style the tools to be fun to pull out.  and  The holographic tweezers are compact (but full-size), have a precise tip for perfect shaping, and make me want to dance! The glittery iridescent pattern makes this award-winning tool look like it’s been plucked from the future. Tweezerman’s signature stainless steel tips are slanted and aligned for the angled tip to efficiently and painlessly lift hairs out for expert shaping. Here’s a tip which has made my life a little more pleasant: plucking eyebrows directly following a warm steam shower allows the follicle to loosen up and release hair more readily, and with less sensitivity! To preserve the fun pattern of the tweezers, I keep them from rubbing against other metal tools in my makeup bag.

tweezerman_promasterlashcurler_900x900Tweezerman’s ProMaster Lash Curler is indispensable for me, and occupies much-coveted space in my travel bag. Eyelash curlers can make or break a look, and the number one thing to avoid is always a crimped or half-curled look which makes lashes look shorter and causes mascara to cake on in clumps. Since eyes come in all shapes and sizes, one curler does not fit all! I have almond-shaped eyes, so the ProMaster is the one for me. It’s designed to reach even the most hard to reach lashes to get the maximum beautiful and even curl. I hold onto the curl for a few seconds, and work outwards, and a natural looking result comes after a few reps. For rounder eyes, ProCurl will be the way to go. The curlers are ergonomically designed to be comfortable and efficient. I love the gunmetal coated look on mine, and the coated rose gold ProCurl is pretty fly too.

smokey_1Once my brows and lashes are primed, I pull out my foolproof four-piece Quick n Easy Charlotte Tillbury Smokey Eye Kit to complete the look. My obsession is palpable with this fabulous new kit and its cute carry pouch, as each component is high-yield and work together to complete the look in a snappy five minutes. Legendary Lashes Mascara contains Tamanu oil to nourish and sculpt the lashes, for a gorgeous sexy effect. The coating is silky but adds loads of drama to pre-curled lashes. The Rock ‘N’ Kohl eye liner glides on with a precise tip and resists smudging, and contains crushed pearl powder which instantly hydrates the skin. The wider stick Colour Chameleon contains sapphire extract to add pigment and sparkle. Once applied on the lid, I blend and smudge this a bit with a colored eyeshadow. Drama is the idea here as the eye is instantly smouldering and sexy. Less is more with Matte Revolution lipstick in Penelope Pink. It contains Lipstick Tree & Orchid extract to nourish lips while almost-nude coverage puts the spotlight on the eyes while maintaining a perfect pucker. When I’m on vacay, I’m often rushing in from an afternoon of shopping and walking with a few minutes to spare before dinner. The Quick n Easy kit makes it possible to go from frazzled to fabulous in a few quick minutes!
