Mom & Kidsaden + anais layette

adenI’m so excited to break the news that aden + anais, my fave brand for baby swaddles, blankets, bibs, and more has finally launched a line of layette clothing (available on the 27th)! The only thing better than being all wrapped up in the sweet cotton muslin is wearing it all day. I’m absolutely in love with the adorable shapes and prints for both tiny boys and girls. I’ve trusted both my babies with aden + anais products, which are uber-soft and absorbent, and hold up amazingly well to constant washing and drying. They only get softer with time and use!

MakeupGo Nude for Summer

With 90 degree weather and hot sun every day, I don’t want a lot of fussy color and makeup running down my face. Fresh, bright and youthful is what’s called for this season with a focus on facial contouring. It’s easy to be intimidated by the concept, but in a few simple steps I’m loving the new “no makeup” (wink, wink) look while making the most of my facial shape. A neutral but dynamic visage goes with any outfit, from summer whites to wedding wear, so you only have to pack one palette to take on travels!

contourContouring is the ubiquitous topic du jour it seems, and I confess I’ve never considered it too seriously until now. The idea behind contouring is to shape, highlight, and bronze in the most flattering way for any shaped face. The concept is so simple yet appealing, so I can’t think of any more excuses for putting it off. I was immediately hooked by Smashbox’s Step-By-Step Contour Stick Trio which transforms my face in seconds, and is incredibly easy to use. The set comes with a guide detailing recommended custom application for any face- it covers anything from oval to heart-shaped faces. Lines and shapes are strategically placed under and over cheekbones to highlight, and the lighter color on the forehead and chin. Blending is a cinch since the creamy pencils glide on, and it’s actually pretty fun to draw shapes on my face before smoothing the lines with my fingers.

Books, Mom & KidsBook Review: When Lyla Got Lost

It’s hard to think about my little girl growing up sometimes, and realizing that loving her so much also makes me want to protect her as much as possible. Now that she’s becoming more independent, I absolutely want her to know what to do if she ever finds herself separated from us. The new book launching today, When Lyla Got Lost (and Found) is a perfect way to introduce precautionary measure to a child without scaring them. The book is simple enough for a 3-year-old to understand, but the message is pertinent for older children as well. The watercolor illustrations are endearing and cute- and they certainly engaged my munchkin. Moms can all relate to that split second where something shiny or bouncy takes the attention of a little one, and suddenly they are out of sight! Lyla’s experience provides peace of mind for both parents and children, so a happy (and relieved) reunion can take place.

Eco & Organic, New York, Washington DCSakara Life

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I could hardly wait to put my fork down before starting to write about my inaugural Sakara Life meal delivery! The freshness, flavor, and convenience make a healthy meal at home or at the office not only accessible but a pleasure. Sakara Life was founded three years ago by two beautiful ladies who have devoted their lives to holistic nutrition in order to provide a healthy and convenient organic meal delivery solution for people ready to take control of their well-being. My healthy-eating Monday started with the Rolled Oat and Pecan Bar, which was surprisingly filling and healthy, and had me prepped for lunchtime. The Yin & Yang Nori Rolls were fresh and tasty- I love sushi even in vegetarian form, and was happy to have my craving satisfied for this week. The rolls were served with a sizeable salad for which I need to find the recipe for that delish dressing! For dinner, I (generously) shared some of the veggie Sakara Cobb Salad with my husband, who happens to think meat is a necessary part of every meal, but even he loved the salad. With Bobby Flay on the board of advisors, Sakara is set apart from other meal delivery services that focus on health but not taste!

Nails, SkincareMother’s Day: Spoil Her Hands

Molton-Brown-Coco-Sandalwood-Hand-Cream_KTD067_XLI’ve learned firsthand that as a mom, my hands go through major manual labor- from washing bottles to folding laundry, to the point of cracking and rough skin. So when I was brainstorming gifts for my mom, I decided it was high time to treat her hard-working hands to some extra TLC with replenishment and fresh nail color to reward them for making it through the toughest and often thankless tasks.

My Molton Brown Coco & Sandalwood Replenishing Hand Cream and I have been inseparable for weeks since my hands won’t let the tube get out of sight. The fresh scent has a touch of the tropics mixed in to remind me of summer travels to come. Amino acids and minerals effectively moisturize, and I find the thicker texture is more satisfying than so many runny lotions. The size is great since it’s compact and light enough to throw into any size bag and go! The light fragrance reminds me of an exotic white sand beach, a daydream any mom can indulge in.

Beauty, SkincareSpring Beauty with Guerlain

meteorPink is in the air! Gorgeous sunrises, cherry blossoms, and illuminating Guerlain Météorites Pearls are a few of my favorite pink things. From the glamorous etched tin which is a work of art in itself to the pretty pink-hued pearls nestled on the inside, the Meteorites are my absolute must-have item for welcoming warm breezes. Whether I’m looking for that finishing touch to perfect a look and boost radiance or want a subtle flush to highlight cheekbones, I always reach for the versatile pearls. Guerlain’s stardust technology refracts light to create a “halo” effect, a.k.a. that perfect glow around skin! Another little side effect of the powder is that it does a magnificent job hiding some of my larger pores (in my case, around my nose). I use a large soft brush to apply it to accent my cheekbones, then do a quick dusting all over to achieve a dewy look. It evens out my skin tone and leaves a faint floral and feminine scent which doesn’t last long, but is a sweet touch with application.

Mom & KidsThe Mini Life

miniI’m so excited to announce the opening of a chic new lifestyle boutique, the Mini Life, that offers toys and home items for modern parents who appreciate quality and style. I’ve always got one ear out for well-curated collections, and this is one of the few that offers access to hard-to-find international brands. The founder, Athena Rotolo, brings you great finds from around the world for babies and children with offerings from Artoyz, kiko+, Organic Zoo, Pop Factory, Stories for Autumn and many more brands.

Fashion, Mom & KidsBoob!

braIt’s been just a couple weeks since we brought home a baby boy, and in my discombobulated and sleepy state, all I know is that every day down feels like a victory! I am so grateful for the little things, like a stolen nap here and there, chocolates sent from a sweet girlfriend, and encouragement from veteran mothers. I also never dreamed I could love and depend on a bra so much, specifically the life-saving T-shirt Bra by Swedish company Boob. The package was waiting for me as soon as I arrived home from the hospital, so I immediately switched to the super-comfy bra. Since then, I have only taken it off to wash it! Since keeping the little guy satiated requires feedings every 2-3 hours, quick access is paramount and comfort is a must as I fall asleep wearing it. Once I start returning to the “real world” and wearing something besides maternity clothes, I wanted a bra which gave me some shape and smooth contours, and this fit the bill perfectly. The T-shirt bra comes with removable pads and just in case, the size can be extended with the hook-and-eye ribbon. There’s no uncomfortable underwire but it is still firmly supportive. The fastening is extra wide (4 rows of hooks) so it doesn’t dig into skin. Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, the fabulous people at Boob have created the bra from recycled polyamide, making it a green option!

Fitness & HealthPhilips Sonicare DiamondClean

sonicareI never would have guessed that I would ever put a toothbrush in the same category as, say, a luxury car, but that is precisely the analogy I made to my hubby after I tried the elegant Philips Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush. The actual brushing movement feels light years more advanced that my several-generations-old Sonicare, with efficient and smooth vibration which glides over my teeth. The brush works efficiently to rid teeth of staining elements as well as cavity-causing plaque to reveal clean pearly whites. The gentle buzz of the brush is punctuated by subtle beeps every thirty seconds to ensure that I cover all the surfaces adequately, which works well to make sure my impatient nature doesn’t short change my teeth (saving time in the dental chair!). After a use in the normal “clean” mode, my teeth feel like they just made a trip to the hygienist, and my gums are healthy as well.
