Media & Press
Last week I was interviewed by a Times reporter regarding the new FTC regulations set forth for December 1 regulating that bloggers must disclose free products or any pay-for-play that goes on. The article is published in today’s issue in the Style section as well as online at NYTimes.com.
Following the publishing of this article and the flurry of media attention on the issue recently, this is a good time to address the new regulation and how it pertains to The Daily Obsession. (more…)
There’s that famous quote floating out there somewhere that if you do what you love, work never becomes work. As a person in my mid-twenties, many of my friends are in an assorted places in their lives in terms of doing what they love. Some of my friends are fortunate enough to have known what they have wanted to do since birth, and have always had a driven passion towards what it is they wanted to pursue, such my friend back home who translated her childhood love for animals into a lifelong dream to become a veterinarian. Others are content in having pursued a practical profession, that isn’t exactly what they love to do, but gives them the ability to do things that they do have a passion for, like traveling or fine dining. Others, are still struggling to find out what it is they do love to do, or are attempting to see how they can start working in the field they want to do.
I firmly fall into the latter camp, having majored in more sensible majors in college, that I wasn’t particularly interested in,but which I thought would give me a more realistic chance of getting a job after college. I was easily scared by my parents, who told me horror stories about jobless English majors. Now I’m at the point in my life where I’m ready to transition, take a courageous stand, and begin pursuing something I truly love. I’m slowly beginning to work towards that, although the process has begun with more baby steps than I would like.
Regardless of what camp or stage of life you belong to, I wanted to share an inspiration I found, the site Modish Biz, which has weekly interviews with people who actually pursued what they loved, aptly named “Do What You Love.” (more…)
To celebrate their newest collection, Gatsby, Longchamp Paris reached out to select global bloggers to offer their interpretation of the enduring icon. Along with editors from Fashioniologie from the US, My Sac a Main from France, and Mirai’s Diary from Japan, I contributed a short essay on my interpretation of Gatsby for Longchamp.
P.S. I love the Gatsby bag and must add to my collection ASAP, preferably in the caramel print (as seen in the image above).
My friends Anne and Hope over at the fabulous travel blog, The Jet Set Girls, had me participate in their newest Carry On feature. I have been doing a little bit of globe trotting lately (more reports from my travels coming soon) so head on over to the JSG to find out what I’ve discovered to be must-have trip items!
