Orisinal Morning Sunshine

I remember reading somewhere during one of my lunchtime Internet forays that to have a truly effective workday, you should take a break every 15 minutes.  If I’ve ever sometimes embraced this rule a little too liberally, it was probably due to the discovery of Orisinal Morning Sunshine.

Orisinal Morning Sunshine is a website of over 60 games created by artist, Ferry Halim, which are fun and addictive with beautiful, slightly anime-style graphics.  I’ve spent a lot of time on this site (all for the purpose of being productive at work of course), and my personal favorite is the Bubble Bees game (the tile with the bee), in which your mouse is controlling a virtual bubble wand which you use to entrap bees.  If you move your mouse too slow, you can’t catch the bees; alternatively, if you move your mouse too quickly, the bubble bursts.

Try all of the games and find out your favorite during your next 15 minutes.  You can find Orisinal located here.

The Lancome Blog

Just found out that one of our fav publicists Kerry Diamond (also the former beauty director at Harper’s Bazaar) is blogging at the newly launched Lancome Beauty Blog. Not only do we love Lancome, but we’re also excited that Kerry will be lifecasting a little bit too so we can all take a peek at her fabulous day to day self.   For example she was just at the premiere of Duplicity which we’ve already heard good reviews about and can’t wait for her pictures.  Also she’s introduced us to ‘Running in Heels” which I’ll admit as a non-TV watcher I’ve never heard of but am now intrigued.  Of course there will be lots of Lancome giveaways and hopefully lots of scoop from brand ambassadors Kate Winslet and Anne Hathaway. Make sure to add her blog to your daily reader!

A TDO Facelift

As you might have noticed, we just gave our site a facelift! We hope you enjoy the new version of the site, welcome feedback and please do excuse the “tweaking” we’ll be doing as we fully convert our site.

Shobha Mix

It’s no secret that Shobha is one of my favorite salons around – not only because they have some genius products and stellar services, but also because there’s something about the space and people that’s just really cool. Maybe it’s how their rich jewel tones make every visit feel like a festive occasion, or maybe it’s how knowledgeable their staff is about what’s good for you, or maybe it’s just that sophisticated worldliness they have about them.  But I always look forward to my appointments and wish that I could channel a little bit of their style in my daily, non hair removing life. Perhaps one day I’ll have a magenta, orange and turquoise apartment, but until then, I’m going to have to emulate their style through ambiance.  Good thing Shobha just released their first Salon Mix, which you can download via iTunes.  It’s a mix of worldly beats ranging from Panjabi MC to Zero 7.  An instant favorite I discovered from them is a song called “Twisted Cupid” by Slow Train. Good for chilling out or rocking out, The Shobha mix makes you feel like you just got a peek at what the coolest kid in town is listening to.

P.S. Their 2 for 1 deal is still going on for a few days so make sure you bring a friend to check it out.

Relax with Jimmyjane

After a long week of work (and let’s face it: Fashion Week is fun, but you just want to crash afterward), I’m always ready for some R&R. This is the perfect time to pull out the Contour M + Afterglow Sensory Set by Jimmyjane, which recently made its debut on the market. This kit is composed of two parts, so let’s break it down.

The Contour M Ceramic Massage Stone is a modern take on traditional hot stone massage. The shape makes it great for broad, shallow contact. Depending on what you’re looking for, you can also use it in three ways: 1) with all the nodes, to concentrate on multi-points of your muscles 2) with a single node, to concentrate contact on one point or 3) with the large dome on the back, for overall broad relaxation. Also, it’s made of double-fired porcelain, which helps retain whatever temperature you prefer. (They’re bio-compatible, durable and completely easy to clean.) Cool it down by running it under cold water or chilling it in your fridge. Want to get warm? Simply run it under warm water, or use the Afterglow Natural Massage Candle – which brings us to part 2 of the kit.

I firmly believe that candles are a huge part of relaxation. The Afterglow Natural Massage Candle takes it up a step. First, the candle that comes with this set smells amazing. It comes in a complex floral scent called Pink Lotus, which is described as: “‘Pink Lotus’ aqueous heart brings a liquid depth to its floral notes. Rippling and intricate, it seduces with each new impression.” Begin by burning the candle (the set comes with matches) and once you’re done, blow it out. The “wax” of the candle turns into a moisturizing massage oil. Simply drizzle the oil onto the underside of the Contour M, which will warm up the stone. Then you can let the stone glide across the body since the massage oil provides an easy slip against skin. When you’re done, your back will be super soft, hydrated and scented.

Seriously, what else could you ask for (other than maybe an extra set of hands so you don’t have to do all the work yourself)? Retails for $45 at jimmyjane.com.

Music from the Tracy Reese SP09 Show

I mentioned in my review of the Tracy Reese show that I was on the case to find out what the beautiful and soulful music from the show was from and I’ve succeeded!

Thanks to a repeating viewing of the beautiful Tracy Reese SP09 show on “Full Frontal Fashion” and some amateur sleuthing skills, I managed to figure out 3 out of the 4 songs from the show by googling random lyrics as I heard the songs.  Not the most scientific method…but it works.

Check out the listing:

Terrence Howard – Love Makes You Beautiful (I know, who knew that he sang too?  I didn’t even recognize his voice!  Either way, he sounds great!!)

Kerli – The Creationist (reminds me a little bit of Feist)

Elbow – One Day Like This (my current favorite so far).

If anyone knows the name of the first song that played during the show, feel free to leave it in the comments since that was the only one that escaped me and in my opinion, also the best one!  All of the above songs are available on iTunes and I know this since I downloaded them all immediately.  Hope this helps those of you that were out there looking for the music!

Confessions of a Shopaholic Trailer

Can I just tell you that I almost screamed when I saw the trailer for Confessions of a Shopaholic last night on TV? I love this series of books and while the photos tempted me all summer…after viewing the trailer, I can’t wait until the film comes out! The wardrobe alone is reason enough to watch. In case you haven’t seen it, you can view it at BuzzSugar or check behind the cut. Tell me what you think! (more…)

In support of National Ovarian Cancer Month (September) and Breast Cancer Month (October), Bella Confections, a fudge shop, is releasing limited edition Think Pink themed Bella’s Bites.  These bite sized chocolates are topped with the universally known breast cancer ribbon and 50% of each purchase is donated to the Fremont Rideout Foundation Cancer Center. Avaliable in semi-sweet Classic Chocolate, these treats are super delicious – and made even more so by knowing that your indulgence is supporting causes that are close to every woman.  These are also perfect for any events you may be hosting – drop one into a gift bag and you may have your friends calling you asking for more!
